Counseling Services

We walk trough the maze of life with others, but each and every one of us is different. We have different backgrounds, face different trials, and react to situations differently. Therefore, we all require individualized approaches to healing. As a Boca Raton mental health counselor, I’ve dedicated countless hours to gaining expertise in a wide variety of therapy techniques, so that I may have the ability to help children and adults find empowerment, no matter the issues they are tasked with overcoming.

Together, we will determine the appropriate therapy for you or your child’s unique situation. My services encompass a breadth of healing options, which are often used in combination with one another to achieve the best possible results. Your customized counseling plan may include the following sessions:

Individual Therapy

For many people, a one on one approach is the best path to healing. During individual sessions, our focus will be on building a strong relationship based in trust, which will allow me to successfully guide you down the path to fulfillment.

Family Therapy

Family dynamics can be tough to tackle without involving the entire family. Therefore, sessions with both parents and children are often the best method for identifying underlying issues and determining how to enhance the lives of every family member. After all, working together is what being a family is all about. Family dynamics can be tough to tackle without involving the entire family. Group Therapy

There are many behavior concerns with children diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Some of these behaviors include: constant moving, fidgeting, failure to listen, trouble playing quietly, talking excessively and interrupting, becoming easily distracted, inability to focus, difficulty finishing tasks, impulsivity, and consistently losing possessions. My goal is to help you and your child to understand the disorder, so that together we can determine the best comprehensive plan for treating its symptoms.

Play Therapy

It is not uncommon for children to have trouble expressing to adults what’s troubling them. In fact, your child may not even know what is bothering him/her. Play therapy serves as a means of uncovering these problems, and determine the best plan for addressing them. Through acting out fantasies and engaging in other forms of imaginative play, even children who struggle with communication can express their worries and fears.

Art Therapy

Art is a powerful (and often overlooked) therapy tool. By simply making art, adults and children alike can learn more about themselves and find relief. When we paint or create, we express our own inner-workings without even realizing it. As a Licensed Boca Raton mental health therapist, I am able to analyze the work of my clients and figure out what is plaguing them. All the while, the process is therapeutic for those participating.

Psychodrama

If psychodrama is part of your treatment plan, I will guide you or your child through a series of role playing scenarios which will allow you to work through your problems and gain insight into your own psyche.

Expressive Art Therapy

When practicing expressive art therapy, we incorporate various art forms to explore internal conflicts and find solace in art. We may paint, dance, write or embrace music as a curative tool. You don’t have to have any experience with the art form, you simply have to have an open mind and be prepared to have a little fun.

Trauma Healing Work

Conquering a trauma alone is a task nobody should have to undertake. Addressing psychological concerns brought on by a traumatic event will require a plan that incorporates a variety a techniques working in tandem with one another. These will likely include individual and group sessions, cognitive behavioral therapy, and expressive therapies. We’ll work through the process together, so that you’re equipped with healthy coping skills and overwhelming support.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

This treatment serves to hone in on your problem, and focus on a solution. We’ll identify the patterns that are holding you or your child back in life, and address methods for responding to these situations in the future that will provide satisfactory outcomes.

Behavior Modification

Based on the work of B.F. Skinner, behavior modification involves rewarding good behavior and punishing unwanted behavior on a systematic basis. This method has proved effective for both parents and children looking to rectify specific concerns. For example, if your child consistently throws tantrums or you are looking to quit smoking, behavior modification may be the best way to address your problems.

Parent-Child Relational Therapy

The relationship between a parent and a child is one of the most important ones in a person’s life, but that does not mean it’s easy. Parent-child relational therapy aims at helping the relationship to flourish, by coaching you to see your children in a different light — so that you may best guide them through life. With my help, you’ll identify problematic ways of thinking (like focusing on actions rather than feelings) and learn how to change them.

Social Skill Building

Some people have an easier time understanding verbal and nonverbal cues in social situations than others. For those who struggle with this, a social skills program will help them to recognize these nuances in communication to be able to navigate social interactions with much ease. Identifying these issues early on is key for successfully treating them, so children who participate in social skill building can go on to leave happy, healthy lives.
